Rock Art Gallery with a waterfall in an obscure location...

Revisit to a favorite site… a basalt spillway, when it is raining heavy this is a waterfall… adjacent to a wonderful gallery of petroglyphs, lots of variety, appears to have been created over time by many different visitors… probably about the water capture.

Respite, change of seasons

End of summer. Cave reflections, empty raptor’s nest (probably a Great Horned Owl). What did this change of season mean to the prehistoric people who lived here before us?

Its a banquet out there.

Harvest - End of summer, part two. Some of Nature’s wild fruit: Pics of Prickly Pear, Pinon Pine cone, Buffalo Squash. I find these nearly everywhere that conditions are appropriate in Northern Arizona Canyons. Not shown: Wolfberry, Black Walnuts, Elderberry and more.

Revisited one of my favorite rock art galleries. Features a large bighorn sheep with supporting images. Two years ago I came across this bighorn curl decaying on the north side of the SF Peaks. Lots of mystery.

Diamonds Beneath My Feet

Yesterday’s hike took me into the “chained” flatlands east of Flagstaff where all archaeological sites were “dragged” and destroyed for the sake of the idea that Juniper trees took the water from the grass needed for grazing cattle. So trees were removed. Patience and careful observation is needed to discovered the treasure still there.

Image faces the winter sunrise.

On this hike I was in the midst of a large grove of Gambel Oak trees when this solid announcement appeared in front of me.
