Do You See What I See?

Daily life 900 years ago.

Basalt canyon, one of our many local northern Arizona drainages, evidence of a once violent volcanic environment. Many native plants in their winter mode…  Desert Olive, Wolfberry and more. Lo and behold, I came across another prehistoric ruin on the bank of this big ditch. Over 2000 now on my map in 35 years. Lots of pottery. Outdoors here is a banquet in all seasons. Smartphone camera.

Playing tag with my wild friend

I recently posted a winter photo showing grey fox footprints in the snow. I mentioned my experience of observing this little animal often watching me when I hiked in his territory. Here’s some snaps from those days. Enjoy.

Out for a morning scout

Footprints in the snow tell me that the often-observed-by me Grey Fox was just ahead of me. I had spent five years playing tag with this guy, first observed one day when he was a pup. His mother had just been killed on Forest Street and he hollered at me for attention one day while I was on a day hike.  I saw him and his sister regularly in the upcoming months. Enjoy.

Nocturnal visitors

Footprints in the snow observed yesterday during my day hike on the rim of Walnut Canyon National Monument. Mule deer for sure and a possible Ring-tailed Cat or Abert Squirrel.  Enjoy.

Drought tolerant, long living native tree of the high desert.

The great textures of the Juniper Tree, northern Arizona near Walnut Canyon National Monument, rainy day. Tree is a visual feast! Photo opportunity during my day hike. Enjoy.

I use my mobile device as a camera and for GPS navigation. My experience is enriched. My better photos and illustrations end up in this gallery.   http://bit.ly/1FdYZfD   Enjoy!

Has a watercolor "look."

My personal therapy, going on a day hike in Nature with an artistic eye, taking my mobile device and looking for a composition in the commonplace. Today, in new snow along the rim of Walnut Canyon. Paradise. The luxurious environment of the Sinagua who built the cliff dwellings there.  So many assets to the enlightened.

I’m using my Galaxy Note Pro 12.2” digital tablet and Android photo editing APPs to create images for my web site and full color imprints for my galleries. Discretion required.
